Many of you travel on a regular basis, although due to recent pandemic situation in the world you may want to choose to postpone your trip or holidays for more safer times. We would like to inform you that hotels around the world, both big-brand and boutique are showing flexibility in response to the COVID-19 or most commonly known as coronavirus and doing the best they can to minimize the impact on guests whose travel plans have changed.

MARRIOTT
Change and Cancellation Policies
The company is waiving individual cancellation fees for hotel stays through March 31 2020 for guests traveling to or from the following locations: Asia Pacific (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, French Polynesia, the Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, New Caledonia and Samoa) and Europe (Italy).
Marriott also is waiving cancellation fees for reservations from the following countries into Saudi Arabia: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Somalia, Vietnam, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Egypt.

Change and Cancellation Policies
If you are impacted by unforeseen travel restrictions such as quarantine, flight cancellations, flight stopovers in affected countries or other travel restrictions imposed by local authorities, you can cancel any stay booked prior to March 12 for stays until April 30 at no charge.
If your travel plans were related to the rescheduling or cancellation of a trade show, convention or other public events, you can cancel at no charge or rebook in line with the rescheduled date.
Changes to or cancellations of reservations made through a third-party or any another travel website need to be addressed directly with the vendor.
Extra Safety Measures
The company’s hygiene protocols have been reviewed and adapted to the current situation and its hotels have increased the frequency of all our cleaning processes, including the disinfecting of all surfaces in rooms and public areas such as lobbies, elevators, the front desk, etc.
HYATT
Change and Cancellation Policies
- Hyatt is waiving cancellation fees for stays through March 31, 2020, for guests residing in greater China, South Korea, Japan and Italy with reservations at international properties.
- Cancellation fees will be waived for guests with hotel bookings in greater China, South Korea, Japan and Italy through March 31, 2020.
- World of Hyatt is extending special exceptions for all Advance Purchase Rate non-refundable reservations made directly with Hyatt on or before March 8, 2020, for travel through June 30, 2020. If you have one of these fully prepaid reservations and choose not to travel, opt to receive 10,000 World of Hyatt Bonus Points compensation in lieu of a stay. For those not enrolled in the loyalty program, the company can set up a World of Hyatt account and deposit the points.
Points and Tier Status Updates
- World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members have a new tier expiration of February 28, 2022, (rather than February 28, 2021) to maintain their elite tier status.
- Valid Suite Upgrade Awards, Club Access Awards and Free Night Awards that expire in 2020 will be extended through December 31, 2021.
- World of Hyatt is evaluating tier and benefit extensions for global members who travel frequently to the Asia Pacific region. Details will be shared as they become available.
HILTON
Change and Cancellation Policies
- In regions affected by government-issued travel restrictions, the company will waive change fees or offer full refunds. For the latest information on region-specific travel waivers, click here.
- All reservations that are scheduled for arrival before April 30, 2020, can be changed or canceled at no charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival.
- Any new reservation you make across the Hilton portfolio that is booked between today and April 30, 2020, for any future arrival date can be changed or canceled at no penalty up to 24 hours before arrival.
Points and Tier Status Updates
- It will pause the expiration of all Hilton Honors points scheduled to expire between now and May 31, 2020. The company will make updates to the requirements for earning 2021 tier status and announce them soon.
Extra Safety Measures
- Hotels increased the frequency of cleaning public areas (including lobbies, elevators, door handles, public bathrooms, etc.) and continue to use hospital-grade disinfectant.
- There are more antibacterial hand sanitizers throughout properties.
- The company activated regional and global response teams to provide around-the-clock assistance to hotels so that swift action can be taken should there be a case of coronavirus at one of its properties.
FOUR SEASONS
Change and Cancellation Policies
- The company will waive cancellation fees until April 15, 2020, for stays in the Asia Pacific region and Europe (excluding the United Kingdom).
- Guests traveling from Europe (excluding the United Kingdom), Iran, South Korea and greater China (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) to any Four Seasons hotel or resort globally also will have their cancellation fees waived until April 15, 2020.
Extra Safety Measures
Hotels have heightened practices around food handling, sanitization, disinfection and cleaning. They also have adopted specific measures based on the guidance of local health authorities in each respective country and region.
THE PENINSULA HOTELS
Change and Cancellation Policies
- Cancellation fees are waived for bookings in March and April for all groups and travelers.
- Guests with reservations in March and April can postpone their trips to the upcoming 12 months.
Extra Safety Measures
- Hotels have taken additional precautions, including the addition of hand sanitizer stations and more frequent cleaning of high-touch areas.
- Global response teams, which include infectious diseases and occupational health experts, stand ready to guide hotels and help address specific needs and situations if they arise.
